The BHS no longer accepts pet surrenders by owners.
BHS operates with limited foster homes and a Holding Facility with limited space available. In the event an animal is seized by law enforcement as a result of neglect or abuse, BHS will arrange accommodations for that pet in foster care or the Holding Facility.
BHS provides a telephone answer line for the public to leave messages regarding animal care or concerns. We retrieve and respond to messages on a daily basis.
BHS encourages licensing of all dogs and cats over the age of 6 months. These can be purchased from the city or Information tags can be bought at the local Vets office or on line at varies pet stores. It is very important to have your animal tagged whether it leaves your property or not. This is being a responsible pet owner.
BHS provides vouchers for spay and neuter only and is available to the general public within Koochiching County.
BHS is a proud member of the Chamber of Commerce and participates in various community events and fundraisers.
